The Unpopular Benefits of Vibe Perception

Updated: Aug 6

What is vibe perception? Well vibe perception can't be defined by one thing. In fact, it could technically be defined by everything...within the body.

Great! Now that I have confused you more and made your more curious let me actually explain what vibe perception is.

Vibe perception is the act of picking up on non-verbal or even non-visual things to make faster decisions and what causes the creation of instincts or 'feelings'.

It uses a chord in your body called the vagus nerve which connects to all your senses (seeing, hearing, tasting, feeling, smelling) and many other parts of the body.

It uses all these senses quickly to analyze an area and send a small signal to the brain telling you what the environment is. It’s why graveyards or abandoned buildings have a sense of eeriness.

That is your vibe perception at its finest. Claiming things have a certain feeling to it without any evidence or reason as to why.

Why can this be beneficial? Ooh, let me rant a little here as to why and all the benefits of vibe perception.

Benefits of Vibe Perception

For starters, vibe perception uses all your senses to make a quick decision, this can be used to create the flight or fight or instinctual decisions.

In other words, it acts as a second brain but for faster decisions. Ever heard of 90% of your decisions come from your gut?

Well, that's part of vibe perception, the vagus nerve also connects to the gut. Think of it as a receiver and send signal. The senses (seeing, hearing, tasting, feeling, smelling) pick up on and receive information and send it to the gut through the vagus nerve...

Then, this gut creates and processes that information to give you the slight feelings that you get every now and then.

Unfortunately, these signals aren't that strong, it becomes stronger once it reaches the brain.

I'll give you an example of this. Do you ever get ready to go somewhere and you 'feel' like you're forgetting something and then a few minutes later once you're actually in the car you realize "Oh my gosh I forgot ___!"?

Well, that feeling was the senses trying to remind you and signal to you that you did forget something. Once it reached the brain is once you realize what you forgot.

If you can learn to pick up on these vibes than you technically become smarter and have two brains! That is something to brag about!

Do you finally understand why your science teacher seams to love the body almost too much it's creepy?

And that's not even everything. These vibes can pick up on such small things that you'd never notice. It is said that if you're talking to someone (I know socializing, crazy) and they're hiding their anger, not visible at all, then your heart rate will increase. This is a study used at Psychology Today, a popular mental health newspaper site where they research the body and mind. If you're interested in this subject, I recommend checking their site out!

Meaning that, if you learn how to pick up on your vibes and better recognize the signals than you can improve your awareness, improvising skills (with how fast you make decisions), and emotional intelligence.

How do we improve our vibe perception, well, exactly where it starts. The gut. By maintaining a healthy gut, you can remember and create stronger signals to better help transport these feelings to the brain.

If that is too difficult learning to recognize what the signals in your gut 'feel' like is also a great place to start!
